RESIDENTIAL TENANCIES AND ROOMING ACCOMMODATION ACT 2008 - SECT 112
Meaning of maximum rental bond
(1) A
"maximum rental bond" , for a residential tenancy agreement, is an amount
equal to the rent payable under the agreement for the period of— (a) for
moveable dwelling premises— (i) if the tenancy is a long tenancy (moveable
dwelling) and electricity supplied to the premises is supplied in the
lessor’s name and individually metered—3 weeks; or
(ii) otherwise—2
weeks; or
(b) for other premises—4 weeks.
(2) A
"maximum rental bond" , for a rooming accommodation agreement, is an amount
equal to the rent payable under the agreement for the period of 4 weeks.
Note— See section 146 for an offence of requiring or accepting more than
the maximum amount for a rental bond.
