YOUTH JUSTICE ACT 1992 - SECT 51
Release of child without bail
51 Release of child without bail
(1) This section applies if, under section 50 , a police officer decides to
release a child without bail.
(2) The officer may release the child into the
custody of the child’s parents or release the child to go at large.
(3)
Before releasing the child, if the officer does not issue and give to the
child a notice to appear, the officer must give the child a notice in the
approved form (a
"release notice" ).
(4) The release notice must set out— (a) the child’s
name; and
(b) the offence or the nature of the warrant on which the child was
held in custody; and
(c) the name of the police officer who started the
proceeding, or justice who issued the warrant, on which the child was held in
custody; and
(d) the court into whose custody the child is required to
surrender under the conditions of release; and
(e) the time and place the
child is required to surrender into the court’s custody; and
(f) a warning
that a warrant will be issued for the child’s arrest if the child fails to
surrender into the court’s custody.
