Land owner’s objection to rates category
90 Land owner’s objection to rates category
(1) This section applies if an owner of rateable land wants to object to the
rating category for the land that is stated in a rate notice for the land.
(2) The only ground for objecting is that the owner considers the land should
belong to a different rating category.
(3) The owner may object by giving the
local government an objection notice.
(4) An
"objection notice" is a document, in a form approved by the local government,
stating— (a) the rating category that the owner claims the land should
belong to; and
(b) the facts and circumstances on which the owner makes that
claim.
(5) The owner must give the objection notice within— (a) 30 days
after the day when the rate notice was issued; or
(b) a longer period that
the local government allows.
