Construction, installation and maintenance of a relevant tank
18 Construction, installation and maintenance of a relevant tank
(1) A person must not construct a relevant tank unless the tank complies with
the mosquito-proofing requirements. Penalty— Maximum penalty—40
penalty units.
(2) A person must not install a relevant tank, whether above
or below ground, unless the tank complies with the
mosquito-proofing requirements. Penalty— Maximum penalty—40 penalty
units.
(3) A relevant person for a place at which a relevant tank is
installed must ensure the tank is maintained so it continues to comply with
the mosquito-proofing requirements. Penalty— Maximum penalty—40
penalty units.
(4) The
"mosquito-proofing requirements" for a relevant tank are that, at each opening
of the tank, the tank must have— (a) a screen that— (i) is made of brass,
copper, aluminium or stainless steel gauze; and
(ii) has a mesh size of not
more than 1mm; and
(iii) is installed in a way that does not cause or
accelerate corrosion; and
(iv) stops mosquitoes passing through the openings;
or
(b) a flap valve that, when closed, stops mosquitoes passing through the
opening.
