(1) The holder of an
exploration licence shall pay to the Minister, annually and in advance, such
fee as may be prescribed.
(1a) A regulation made
for the purposes of subsection (1) may—
(a) fix
various methods for the calculation of a fee (including according to the total
area of land in respect of which an exploration licence is granted);
(b) fix
differential fees on a basis prescribed by the regulations.
(2) The Minister may
reduce, remit or refund a fee under this section if, in his opinion, it is
necessary or expedient so to do.
(3) The liability to
pay a fee under this section is a debt due to the Crown.
