81—Refund on cancellation of registration
(1) For the purposes
of sections 54 and 60 of the Act, the amount to be refunded on cancellation of
the registration of a motor vehicle under those sections is an amount equal to
the product obtained by multiplying one three hundred and sixty-fifth of the
prescribed annual registration fee by the number of days in the unexpired
period of registration.
(2) If—
(a) the
registration of a motor vehicle is renewed before the expiry of the previous
registration; and
(b)
before that expiry the registered owner or the registered operator of the
vehicle applies for cancellation of the renewal of registration,
the Registrar must also refund any surcharge paid in respect of the renewal of
registration.
