(1) This regulation
applies if a safety sign is required to control an identified risk in relation
to using, handling, generating or storing hazardous chemicals at a workplace.
(2) A
person conducting a business or undertaking at the workplace must display a
safety sign at the workplace to—
(a) warn
of a particular hazard associated with the hazardous chemicals; or
(b)
state the responsibilities of a particular person in relation to the hazardous
chemicals.
Maximum penalty:
(a) In
the case of an individual—$6 000.
(b) In
the case of a body corporate—$30 000.
(3) The person must
ensure that the safety sign is—
(a)
located next to the hazard; and
(b)
clearly visible to a person approaching the hazard.
(4) In this
regulation—
"safety sign" does not include a placard.
