(1) In this Act, unless the contrary intention appears—
"assessment of relevant history" means an assessment of relevant history conducted under the Children's Protection Act 1993
(as in force immediately before the commencement of this section) by an authorised screening unit;
"authorised screening unit" means a person or body who was, at the relevant time, an authorised screening unit within the meaning of the Children's Protection Regulations 2010
;
"criminal history report" means a criminal history report prepared by South Australia Police, CrimTrac or the Australian Crime Commission;
"transitional period" means the period—
(a) commencing on the day on which this section comes into operation; and
(b) ending on—
(i) if the Minister, by notice in the Gazette, specifies a day on which the transitional period is to end—that day; or
(ii) if the Minister does not specify a day under subparagraph (i)
—3 years after the day on which this section comes into operation.
(2) For the purposes of this Act, a reference to a person becoming a prohibited person under the Child Safety (Prohibited Persons) Act 2016
will be taken to include a reference to a person who is a prohibited person by force of section 15 of that Act on the day that section comes into operation.
