TRADE MEASUREMENT ACT 1993 - SECT 18

18—Duty of repairers etc to obliterate marks

        (1)         A person must obliterate any inspector's mark or licensee's mark that a measuring instrument bears when the person does anything to the measuring instrument (including repair, modification and commissioning) that affects its metrological performance, unless that effect can be corrected by normal operational adjustment of the instrument.

        (2)         A person who fails to comply with subsection (1) is guilty of an offence.

Maximum penalty: $20 000.

        (3)         This section applies whether or not the person is a licensee.
