TRAFFIC (GENERAL AND LOCAL) AMENDMENT REGULATIONS 2000 (S.R. 2000, NO. 144) - REG 7

Regulation 14AA amended (Flashing or rotating lights not to be used except in certain cases)
Regulation 14AA of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:
(a) by omitting subregulation (2) and substituting the following subregulation:
(2)  Notwithstanding subregulation (1), a vehicle may show a flashing or rotating red light when it is being driven, or is standing, on a public street if the vehicle is –
(a) operated by, or under the authority of, a council for the purposes of firefighting; or
(b) operated by a person appointed or employed under section 7(1) or (3) of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1970 for the purposes of firefighting; or
(c) operated by the Hydro-Electric Corporation and proceeding to the scene of a fire or accident for the purpose of attending to powerlines; or
(d) operated as an emergency vehicle by the State Emergency Service; or
(e) operated by a company established under the Port Companies Act 1997 and ordinarily used within the boundaries of a port for which the company is established; or
(f) operated by a military force of the Commonwealth for purposes related to defence; or
(g) operated as a prison escort vehicle by a department or authority responsible for the transportation of prisoners.
(b) by omitting from the definition of "tow truck" in subregulation (5) "owned or".
