(1) A person to whom
this section applies commits an offence if, having arrested another for an
offence, he wilfully and without reasonable excuse fails to take that other
person, or cause him to be taken, as soon as is practicable —
(a)
before an authorised officer or judicial officer empowered by this Act to
grant bail for that offence; or
(b)
before a court.
Penalty: $1 000 or imprisonment for 12 months or
both.
(2) This section
applies to a person who —
(a) is
not empowered by this Act to grant bail for the offence; or
(b)
being so empowered, elects to act under section 6(7).
