(1) All actions,
suits, and other proceedings for any forfeiture upon any statute penal whereby
the forfeiture or benefit is limited to His Majesty, or His Majesty, his heirs
and successors, shall be commenced within 2 years after the offence committed.
(2) All actions,
suits, and other proceedings for any forfeiture upon any statute penal whereby
the forfeiture or benefit is limited to His Majesty, or His Majesty, his heirs
and successors, and to any person who prosecutes in that behalf, shall be
commenced by any such person within one year after the offence committed, and
in default thereof may be commenced by His Majesty, his heirs and successors
at any time within 2 years after that year ended.
(3) All actions,
suits, and other proceedings for any forfeiture upon any statute penal whereby
the forfeiture or benefit is limited to any person who shall prosecute in that
behalf, shall be commenced by such person within one year after the offence
committed.
(4) Any action, suit,
or other proceeding brought after such times respectively shall be void and of
no effect.
