(1) This section
applies if, immediately before commencement day, a psychiatrist had completed
an examination for the purposes of a referral made under the 1996 Act section
29(2)(b) but had not done anything under section 39(1) of that Act as a result
of the examination.
(2) The examination is
taken to be an examination conducted in accordance with Part 6 Division 3
Subdivision 6 for the purposes of section 60.
(3) The psychiatrist
can make an order under section 61(1)(c) on the basis of the examination, but
the order cannot be made more than 72 hours after the time when the person who
was examined was received at the place where the examination was conducted.
