This legislation has been repealed.
(1) Subject to the
provisions of the Radiation Safety Act 1975 , any person, other than a
medical practitioner, who uses or implies that he uses radium or X-ray for the
diagnosis, examination, or the treatment of any human ailment or physical
defect otherwise than under the supervision of a medical practitioner shall be
guilty of an offence.
Penalty: $1 000.
(2) Subsection (1)
shall not apply to a nurse practitioner registered under the
Nurses and Midwives Act 2006 while carrying out the functions of a nurse
practitioner, or to a chiropractor or a registered dentist who uses X-ray as
an aid to diagnosis in the practice of chiropractic or of dentistry
respectively.
