Provisional acceptance of proposed revision of Safety Case
12. (1) The Designated Authority may, by notice in writing to the operator of
a facility, grant for the period specified in the notice a provisional
acceptance of a proposed revision of the Safety Case in 
force for the facility.
[NOTE: For the meaning of "Safety Case in force for the facility", see subr. 3
(1).]

(2) The Designated Authority may, by notice in writing to the operator:

   (a)  extend a provisional acceptance for the period specified in the
        notice; or

   (b)  cancel a provisional acceptance, with effect from the date of effect
        specified in the notice, being a date not earlier than the date on
        which the notice is given.

(3) A Designated Authority must not grant or extend a provisional acceptance
of a proposed revision unless the Designated Authority is satisfied that the
operation of the facility in accordance with the proposed revision:

   (a)  will be appropriate to the facility; and

   (b)  will comply with these Regulations; and

   (c)  will reduce to as low as is reasonably practicable any risk to the
        safety of the facility or of persons on the facility.

(4) For the purposes of these Regulations, a provisional acceptance in force
under this regulation has effect, in accordance with its terms, as an
acceptance of the revised Safety Case.
