ANIMAL MANAGEMENT (CATS AND DOGS) ACT 2008 - SECT 68
Abandonment prohibited
(1) The owner of, or a responsible person for, a regulated dog must not
abandon it unless the owner or responsible person has a reasonable excuse.
Penalty— Maximum penalty—300 penalty units.
(2) In this section—
"abandon" includes leave for an unreasonable period, having regard to
community health and safety.
