25A What this chapter is about
(1) This chapter explains what a joint local government is and its
responsibilities and powers. Note— For other flexible forms of cooperation
between local governments, see section 10 .
(2) A
"joint local government" is an entity that, within a
joint local government area, takes over particular responsibilities from its
component local governments.
(3) A
"joint local government area" is a part of the State that consists of the
whole or parts of 2 or more local government areas of
component local governments.
(4) A
"component local government" is a local government entitled to be represented
on a joint local government, either in its own right or as a member of a group
of local governments.
(5) In this chapter
"local government" includes the Brisbane City Council.
