PROSTITUTION ACT 1999 - SECT 85
Person to state age
85 Person to state age
(1) This section applies if a police officer reasonably believes that a person
in a licensed brothel may be a minor.
(2) The police officer may require the
person to give particulars of the person’s age.
(3) If the police officer
considers, on reasonable grounds, that any particulars given by the person may
be false, the police officer may require the person to give satisfactory
evidence of the correctness of the particulars.
(4) If the police officer
makes a requirement under subsection (2) or (3) , the police officer must warn
the person that it is an offence— (a) to fail, without reasonable excuse, to
comply with the requirement; or
(b) to give false particulars or evidence.
(5) The person must not, without reasonable excuse— (a) fail to comply with
a requirement made under subsection (2) or (3) ; or
(b) give false
particulars of the person’s age; or
(c) give false evidence about the
person’s age.
Penalty— Maximum penalty for subsection (5) —20
penalty units.
