MAJOR CRIME (INVESTIGATIVE POWERS) ACT 2004 (NO 79 OF 2004) - SECT 77

New section 86JA inserted

After section 86J of the Police Regulation Act 1958 insert —

        "86JA.     Protection of legal practitioners and witnesses

    (1)     A legal practitioner representing a person in an investigation under this Part, or a legal practitioner assisting the Director in the investigation, has the same protection and immunity as a legal practitioner has in representing a party in proceedings in the Supreme Court.

    (2)     A person appearing as a witness in an investigation under this Part has the same protection and immunity as a witness has in proceedings in the Supreme Court.".
