Archaeological Relics Advisory Committee

5. Archaeological Relics Advisory Committee



(1) There shall be constituted an Archaeological Relics Advisory Committee
consisting of twelve members, of whom-

   (a)  one shall be the Secretary to the Department of Natural Resources and
        Environment or his nominee, who shall be the chairman; and





   (b)  eleven shall be persons appointed by the Governor in Council-

   (i)  one being the Director of the Museum of Victoria or his nominee;



   (ii) one being a member of the National Trust of Australia (Victoria);

   (iii) one being a member of the Archaeological and Anthropological Society
        of Victoria;

   (iv) one being the Department Head of the Department of Natural Resources
        and Environment or his or her nominee;



   (v)  one being a professional archaeologist from a Victorian university;

   (viii) one being a member of the Institute of Aboriginal Studies; and

   (ix) three being Aborigines nominated by the Minister.





(2) Each of the appointed members of the Advisory Committee shall hold office
for the period not exceeding three years which is specified in his instrument
of appointment, but shall be eligible for re-appointment.

(3) The members of the Advisory Committee shall elect one of the appointed
members as deputy chairman for a period not exceeding twelve months, but a
person so elected shall be eligible for re-election.

(4) The Secretary may nominate any person to be present at any meeting of the
Advisory Committee, to sit with the Advisory Committee and advise the
Committee on any matter but that person shall not vote on any question.
