A person shall not
drive an animal-drawn vehicle, or permit it or any trailer drawn by it to be,
upon a carriageway, during the hours of darkness, unless the vehicle or
trailer is equipped with appropriate lamps and reflectors as prescribed by the
Road Traffic (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1977 , as amended from time
to time, and the lamps are alight.
